What led you into journalism, and what would you be doing if you weren’t a journalist?

A passion for storytelling and the desire to make some impact in this world is what really drew me into journalism. The pen is mightier than the sword and through this platform I am able to shine a light on societal injustices and advocate for change. And I see this as a privilege because society has given us (the media) a platform to inform, educate, fact-check and investigate on their behalf so that they have enough information to make well-informed decisions about the world they live in and about their leadership whether at a local, national or global level.

If I weren&#;t a journalist, I can picture myself in the human rights field, championing for justice for those who have been financially or legally marginalized. Another path I have recently taken an interest in is advocating for inclusivity in AI development, specifically for the African continent.

Joyce Omondi is an award winning Kenyan Gospel Singer. Joyce Omondi was born in Nairobi and studied in the Kenya before proceeding to Knox College in the United States between and where she majored in both Economics and Integrated International Studies (IIS).
Joyce Omondi Music career
Joyce Omondi learnt to sing and play the piano, and started performing early in life at church gatherings in Woodley, Nairobi and later graduated to singing in the Church choir.
On returning to Kenya, Joyce Omondi released a series of gospel singles and collaborations including Conqueror and Kweli which means “Truly” in Swahili. Kweli is one of her most popular hits.
Her songs are all from personal experiences, specifically Conqueror. The song relates to her father who was injured during the bomb blast, his visits in and out of the hospital and how they got through that difficult period as a family.
Her father also features in the video for the song Kweli. Her album explores different genres like reggae, neo soul, smooth jazz, Western and worshory
