His contributions to the establishment of industrial design as a profession in the US, along with other legends like Norman Bel Geddes, Raymond Loewy, Henry Dreyfuss, and Joseph Sinel, cannot be understated.

One of Teague's most memorable achievements was his exhibition designs during the New York World's Fair, including the iconic Ford Building. He was also famous for his product and package designs, such as Eastman Kodak's Bantam Special and the steel-legged Steinway piano.

He established his own typographic studio in , and by the mids became involved in commercial packaging. He left advertising in to open an industrial design firm in New York City and added industrial design to his letterhead in , receiving his first contract with Eastman Kodak on Jan. 1, Teague designed a number of well-known cameras for Kodak, including an Art Deco gift camera (), Baby Brownie (), Bantam Special () and the Brownie Hawkeye (). He designed the Marmon 16, introduced in , and the trend-setting Texaco gas stations (). Through his foresight and leadership, his design firm TEAGUE established ongoing partnerships with corporations such as Ford, Texaco, Kodak, Polaroid and Boeing that set the standard for designer/client relationships.
