De son nom complet Tarsem Dhandwar Singh, Tarsem Singh commence ses études en Inde, son pays natal, puis les poursuit aux Etats-Unis où il sort fraîchement diplômé du Art Center College of Design de Pasadena, en Californie. Ses premiers éloges, il les obtient grâce à son clip vidéo "Losing My Religion" pour le groupe de rock R.E.M., lui permettant de remporter plusieurs MTV Awards. A la fin des années 90, il entreprend de réaliser son premier film. C'est chose faite en avec The Cell, un thriller fantastique à l'image soignée, lissée, très esthétique et qui plus est, porté par Jennifer Lopez, alors icône du moment. Tarsem Singh est alors perçu comme un cinéaste méticuleux et perfectionniste. Son deuxième film, il le signe en avec The Fall, dont il rédige également le scénario. Ce projet lui prend quatre ans de travail et est tourné dans plus de 20 pays

The Indian-American director, producer and screenwriter was born in India in the city of Jalandhar located in the state of Punjab in the year He was born to a typical Punjabi Sikh family and has worked on many commercials, movies and short videos. He completed his schooling at the Bishop Cotton School in Shimla and graduated in film studies from the Art Centre College of Design in California. He simultaneously obtained a degree in business studies from the Harvard Business School.

Tarsem Singh Dhandwar, known professionally as Tarsem, is an Indian director who has worked on films, music videos, and commercials.
Tarsem was born in Jalandhar, Punjab to a Punjabi Sikh family. His father was an aircraft engineer. He is a graduate of the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California.
Tarsem began his career directing music videos, including those of "Hold On" by En Vogue, "Sweet Lullaby" by Deep Forest and R.E.M.&#;s smash hit "Losing My Religion", the latter of which won Best Video of the Year at the MTV Video Music Awards. He has directed dozens of commercials for brands such as Nike and Coca-Cola. Tarsem&#;s feature film directorial debut was The Cell (), starring Jennifer Lopez.
