Q1. In your own words, please tell us what you do.
I&#;m a freelance illustrator/digital artist and art director. I coordinate Aégis, my artistic studio, which is focused on CD cover artworks / packaging and illustrations for publishing houses (and pretty much everything related to that). But what I really do is to tell something about my everyday life and its relationship with nature on my images.
Q2. Did you feel pressured in school to follow a more traditional career path?
Not really. My teachers and classmates always supported me because I was the drawing guy in the class, and they were always asking me to draw cartoon characters for them and the like. My teachers used to tell me that I&#;d have f

Mario Sánchez Nevado (Barcelona, ) is a Spanish freelance Illustrator and Art Director Graduated in Fine Arts with a Major in Digital Arts by the University of Murcia, who creates artworks and designs for music bands and publishing houses worldwide from this studio, Aégis Strife Illustration. His distinctive surreal signature on aesthetics, and his caustic approach on storytelling, has granted him a worldwide recognition of his career. He has joined forces with clients of the size of Adobe, Goodby Silverstein & Partners, Harlequin or Hachette. He is also one of the managers of the international artistic collective Hysterical Minds and has written several workshops for PSD Tuts+ about digital imaging production. About Mario Sanchez Nevado
I'm an independent Art Director and Illustrator. I was born in Barcelona, risen in Murcia and currently I live on the spanish capital, Madrid. I have got more than a decade of expertise on my back, illustrating and designing for music bands and publishing houses.
Besides for the passion I feel for all things creative (that gets shaded by surrealism, fantasy, sometimes political messages, and other, dark atmospheres), that I develop the freelance-way, I employ myself in other full-time activities, such as directing the international artistic collective Hysterical Minds, as well as writting from time to time, advanced user tutorials for Adobe Photoshop over at PSD Tuts from the Envato Network.
My main artistic capacities, apart from an eye for mathematical composition, color psychology and visual narratives, are photo manipulation and digital painting, that I usually combine to create my own distinctive aesthetic mark.
I'm open for all kind of commissions that fall inside the direction and production of illustration and design, and specially interested if it's for music bands or publishing houses!
