Growing up, I never read the story of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. While I loved to read, this was not a book that interested me.
My mom and I loved to watch the movie, First Knight, together though. Thinking back over the movie now, I realize just how much King Arthur loved Lady Guinevere.
Isnt that what love should be like? Willing to overlook flaws and forgive because we know we have flaws of our own that are in need of forgiveness?
The story of King Arthur, Lady Guinevere and the Knights of the Round Table is one that children of all ages can enjoy and this unit study is a great place to start!

King Arthur is a fabled ruler of Sub-Roman Britain who defended his kingdom from the Anglo-Saxons. He is a popularfictional character in modern literature. He won several battles, and had many homes. However, his favourite home was in Camelot. In one of the most famous tales of King Arthur, he pulls a sword out of a stone, making him King of the Britons.

Fatima: I've heard of a famous story that isn't here in the museum anywhere: King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. Have you seen them, Harry?
Harry: No. I wonder where they are?
Sally: No one actually knows if King Arthur ever really existed. Stories have been told about him for over a thousand years, but we don't know if he ever really lived, or if there really were any Knights of the Round Table. Maybe they're just made up stories.

Harry: Why is the sword stuck in the stone?
Fatima: Seems like a silly place to leave it.
Sally: Well, the story is that the sword could only be pulled free from the stone by the true king.
Harry: Did that really happen?
Fatima: Doesn't seem very likely.
